What does Record and Recode actually means? Recording means capturing a moment for example by taking photographs or sketching. These images can be personalized and developed for instance by adding an own point of view to them. This action is called recoding. Before coming together in collective we learned about non-verbal communication, sequence and how to convey the alphabet in different ways using symbols or the human body. Because of the presentation I got a quick insight of the different ways to express letters. Typography is not the only way to convey letters and communicate feelings. Those attitudes can also be communicated through dance and sound. Afterwards we worked together in collectives and discussed our ideas about how to communicate 26 letters in the alphabets including our own bodies. During the project "Storytelling" I learned the techniques of wood carving and printmaking and how to digitalize those prints. Before I started designing I looked at some artists to get a quick understanding what printmaking actually means. Regarding to that  I could think of pictures which I could carve into wood blogs and that would express the books theme. Looking at my first prints I like the style of the tensing hands because they convey strength as well as tension and therefore they convey the detailed and well described characters that are a part of the book. This image combined with blood drops  also broaches the issue of brutality.  The other print that I developed shows a hand holding a head and a police tape covered  with  blood. This image relates to the strength and courage of the police man who wants to find the murder of a  shot man as well as the power of gangs in American Ghettos who are killing innocent people. The project Story Telling started off with learning the tools and techniques about printmaking and wood carving. At first I could practice by creating an image which would get printed afterwards to have a better understanding of the techniques and the actual appearance. To look at our task we had to design a series of book covers which communicate the book theme without using words.  Regarding to that I already took photographs and illustrated images referring to the book "A Brief History of Seven Killings" by Marlon James which was the book title that I had to refer to. Because I enjoyed the tutorial in woodblock carving and Lino printing I decided to design at least one book cover using this method. Furthermore I like to experiment with different techniques.
