Software workshop

The software workshop helped us to get to know Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign better. We learned that those three editor programs are used for different tasks so we would always need more than one editor to get a project done.

Bildergebnis für photoshopPhotoshop is great with pictures because its working with pixels. A lot of times it is used to cut out different images from various photos to create a kind of collage using different layers.

Bildergebnis für illustratorIllustrator is used to design for example logos and to make different shapes just as triangles or squares.

Bildergebnis für indesign
The last editor which we were dealing with is InDesign which is used to create any kind of layers, books or magazines.

Basically, if I would like to design a magazine I would have to design a front page out of different photos using Photoshop. Then I would also design logos or shapes by using Illustrator and after that I would copy them into InDesign to come up with my finished magazine. That means that all three editor work together to create one perfect outcome.

Also important to remember is that any photos or moving images which only appear on a screen like the TV or Instagram are made with RGB Colours (Red, Green, Blue).
Photos or outcomes which are going to get printed are made with CMYK Colour (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key). That is because the printer are only able to print using CMYK Colour. Referring to that the colours would turn out differently on paper than on screen when using RGB Colours for instance for printing a magazine.

British Values - Individual Liberty

The country Britain not only stands against terrorism and discrimination but also fights against those issues to protect society. The Prevent Strategy was set up in 2006 by the government to stop people supporting terrorism or becoming terrorists. The strategy is subdivided in three major aspects which are challenging the ideology that stands for terrorism, protecting innocent people and supporting those sectors which have a risk of radicalization. To prevent that young adults or even children turn into terrorists the government developed the Equality Act in 2010 which tackles inequality and prevents discrimination against people with 'protected characteristics' inside public schools. Examples for 'protected characteristics' are the age, disability, sex or sexual orientation, the religion, etcetera. In fact of that the British Values are defined as "democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance for those with differe...

Evaluation - Storytelling

During the project "Storytelling" I learned the techniques of wood carving and printmaking and how to digitalize those prints. Before I started designing I looked at some artists to get a quick understanding what printmaking actually means. Regarding to that  I could think of pictures which I could carve into wood blogs and that would express the books theme. Looking at my first prints I like the style of the tensing hands because they convey strength as well as tension and therefore they convey the detailed and well described characters that are a part of the book. This image combined with blood drops  also broaches the issue of brutality.  The other print that I developed shows a hand holding a head and a police tape covered  with  blood. This image relates to the strength and courage of the police man who wants to find the murder of a  shot man as well as the power of gangs in American Ghettos who are killing innocent people. I think I used the techni...
