Waterloo Station

Graphic design accompanies us in our everyday life's. The Waterloo Station in London is a good example for a place which has various advertisement posters from different graphic design companies.

There are food advertisement graphics which show a photo of delicious prepared food so the visitor gets interested by seeing a meal. For example the poster of ´wasabi restaurant´.
On the poster is written “MADE FRESH DAILY” in capital letters.
Because they use just three words the poster is faster to read and the headline is easy to remember. They also choose its colour on purpose. The photo shows a rice bowl with some meat and vegetable sauce on it. The colours are yellow and red with some green seasoning. Those colours are also used for the worlds so they harmony better with each other.

Other companies use bright colours to catch people's attention. Big and just a few words make the people read the poster better and faster. An example is the advertisement poster of a sushi restaurant which uses a bright orange and read big letters. The sign has the form of an error which points in the direction of the restaurant. They also use an exclamation mark to request visitors to come in without them recognizing it. The name of the restaurant “YO” is a Spanish word which means “I”. Regarding to that the people get involved already by reading the sign.

At London Waterloo Station are also big moving signs which catches the attentions of people and are placed on the walls so everybody is able to look at them. Because they are constantly moving visitors are forced to look at those advertisements.

Another big topic at this Station is travelling. The “South Western Railway” uses big signs which show various beautiful locations to convey a 'holiday' feeling so people feel good and want to travel with this company.

There are also little posters attached to moving doors which anyone using those trains and tubes need to pass. The advertisement is about “fitwater” so there is a comparison between people walking and needing water.

Every single graphic design has its own purpose. Nomally we do not reconise that they manipulate us and somethimes force us to do something without even recognising.
Those advertisements are elaborate well and base on our psychology to get into our heads.

British Values - Individual Liberty

The country Britain not only stands against terrorism and discrimination but also fights against those issues to protect society. The Prevent Strategy was set up in 2006 by the government to stop people supporting terrorism or becoming terrorists. The strategy is subdivided in three major aspects which are challenging the ideology that stands for terrorism, protecting innocent people and supporting those sectors which have a risk of radicalization. To prevent that young adults or even children turn into terrorists the government developed the Equality Act in 2010 which tackles inequality and prevents discrimination against people with 'protected characteristics' inside public schools. Examples for 'protected characteristics' are the age, disability, sex or sexual orientation, the religion, etcetera. In fact of that the British Values are defined as "democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance for those with differe

Create Your Identity

This project helped me to understand what a brand is and how to develop one. Before I started creating a brand which shows my own personality we had to answer a couple questions in collectives. What is the purpose of a brand? Answering the question a brand creates an identity, makes a company unique and recognizable as well as communicates value and quality to the customer. What is an excellent example of self-promotion and why? The brand NIKE is well known around the world and promises the company's value of their products. Because of NIKE having symbiotic relationships with for example celebrities the brand promoting itself to a wide range of people. Is a brand a company, a product, or a person? Discuss and state why. A brand is everything at ones. Basically is a brand developed as soon as somebody or something owns something. For instance a musician who own its songs. When this person decides to create its own collection a brand starts to grow. How do
