Collaging an Image

The designer that inspires me is Karl Lagerfeld. I love his sense of fashion and his different collections. Karl Lagerfeld is a German fashion designer, photographer and costumer. He started his career in France in the 1950s. He creates his own collections for women and men since 1974. Lagerfeld is also the creative director of the French fashion boutique Chanel. That caused him an international billion concern.

In my opinion are the different collections he designed stunning. He has a talent for patterns and posh. Karl Lagerfeld also gets inspired by different cultures for example Greece.I also like about his fashion that some collections   are wearable in our everyday lives.

For those reasons I based my collages on him. I printed a model wearing his dress and added white paper to design different outfits. My pieces look extravagant and in combination with Lagerfeld's model it appears also glamorous.

At first I did not like the task because I thought it was waste but as I finished designing my first collage I liked my outcome and I learned that it is important to look at other designers as well. It is not about coming up with new fashion trends it is about looking around and getting inspired by everything. But it is necessary to develope an own handwriting and do not copy it from someone else.

British Values - Individual Liberty

The country Britain not only stands against terrorism and discrimination but also fights against those issues to protect society. The Prevent Strategy was set up in 2006 by the government to stop people supporting terrorism or becoming terrorists. The strategy is subdivided in three major aspects which are challenging the ideology that stands for terrorism, protecting innocent people and supporting those sectors which have a risk of radicalization. To prevent that young adults or even children turn into terrorists the government developed the Equality Act in 2010 which tackles inequality and prevents discrimination against people with 'protected characteristics' inside public schools. Examples for 'protected characteristics' are the age, disability, sex or sexual orientation, the religion, etcetera. In fact of that the British Values are defined as "democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance for those with differe...

Evaluation - Storytelling

During the project "Storytelling" I learned the techniques of wood carving and printmaking and how to digitalize those prints. Before I started designing I looked at some artists to get a quick understanding what printmaking actually means. Regarding to that  I could think of pictures which I could carve into wood blogs and that would express the books theme. Looking at my first prints I like the style of the tensing hands because they convey strength as well as tension and therefore they convey the detailed and well described characters that are a part of the book. This image combined with blood drops  also broaches the issue of brutality.  The other print that I developed shows a hand holding a head and a police tape covered  with  blood. This image relates to the strength and courage of the police man who wants to find the murder of a  shot man as well as the power of gangs in American Ghettos who are killing innocent people. I think I used the techni...
