Evaluation - Information Graphics

I liked the fact that I could decide on my own what I wanted to do and how I wanted it to design even it was hard to come up with ideas in the beginning.
I think it is good to learn how to make own decisions in view of how much research to include, what kind of research, techniques and so on.
However, deciding all those aspects can be difficult as well because every decision that I make need to be considered and explained.
In this case it was helpful to have some guidelines which gave me an idea of what to do rather than telling me in detail what to develop.

When I looked for the poster advertising the charity event I wanted them to be readable and clear. Therefore I used a bold font, wider spacing and leading between the words and capital letters.
The colour black as background should give the impression of darkness and refer to the fact that the event is taking place in the darkness.

Looking to my chart designs I learned that ideas have to develop throughout the process. I started with a simple idea which ended up to be improved and include more and specific information.
Furthermore it helped me a lot to get some peer feedback on which I could improve on especially because I came up with the whole idea and therefore I would not recognise if one of the charts would not be clear and understandable.

The animation including both graphics form a symmetry within the image even each lines of the two charts are asymmetrical.
That the lines would be clear and look professional I decided to digitalise them using Illustrator instead of drawing them on paper.

In conclusion I am happy with the whole process. I managed my time the right way so I was not stressed but could focus on the parts I need to get done and reply to the improvements.

British Values - Individual Liberty

The country Britain not only stands against terrorism and discrimination but also fights against those issues to protect society. The Prevent Strategy was set up in 2006 by the government to stop people supporting terrorism or becoming terrorists. The strategy is subdivided in three major aspects which are challenging the ideology that stands for terrorism, protecting innocent people and supporting those sectors which have a risk of radicalization. To prevent that young adults or even children turn into terrorists the government developed the Equality Act in 2010 which tackles inequality and prevents discrimination against people with 'protected characteristics' inside public schools. Examples for 'protected characteristics' are the age, disability, sex or sexual orientation, the religion, etcetera. In fact of that the British Values are defined as "democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance for those with differe...

Process - Art Fund - Live Brief

This life project was different from the project we had worked on before. That is because the project brief is written by an existing company called Art Fund which wants us to create a campaign in their  name  that can drive sales of the student art pass amongst university students. Because of that we had to follow guidelines such as using their colour palette, font style and layout. The brief also gave us key insights in students lives as well as the key message which had to be express through our design to make the concept clear. I started with writing down the main aspects which the student art pass offers and what the company wants me to convey. Then I listed facts which needed to be considered for my campaign. My first idea was to design the student pass out of error windows which appear on the computer when an error happens. This idea was caused by the thought that students are mostly using computers and phones and are all of their free times onli...

Photo Sequence

The task was about teaching us how to create a story by using photos. The importance of that is to think about different aspects as we take them such as the composition, framing, light, location, shape/ form, texture/ line, colour, (a)symmetry, narrative, depth of field and the reveal. All in one it is necessary to know how to convey the story to the viewer so they would get affected by it. My story is about a girl which is bored and does not know what to do at first. After a while she has the idea to turn on some music so she could dance and jump on her bed. Suddenly she loses the control of her body and falls down to the floor. The story ends with her laying on the ground and not moving. The setting is a bedroom. In the picture is seen a bed, door, bedside table with a lamp on it, a music speaker and a picture in a frame hanging on the wall. I choose the room because it should look like an average room for a teenager. Furthermore should the room be clean so it w...
