Animated World

Animation is based on imagination that means there are not any creative limits.
The world we live in is about science and explanations so animation is a way out of the normal “boring” world. You can create whatever you want with fictive things that do not exist. It ether can be a world of darkness or of happiness or of anything you can imagine. An animated world does not know any rules.

We started to think about an imagination world by brainstorming where we want to go.

Our animated world – story
Our world starts in a black bin. We walked to it and dived down. Everywhere was black but than something incredible happened. We came up in an ocean full of corals. Though it was not an ocean it ended up to be a picture in a book. The light increased so it got brighter until everything was white. As we could see something again, we realised we were next to a huge green plant. As we got further away we recognized the plant was normal sized and a girl was looking at it. We were zooming in to her eyes. Her eyes were brown. As we got closer it got darker and darker. We dived into the girl´s eye. It was black again. Then we came up in a lift. We realised it as the door opened. After that we walked straight to some lockers which were in front of us. Then we got closer to the lockers and especially to its lock. There ended our journey.

When we were producing our film we thought about smooth transitions. Therefore we used the light which got sometimes darker so it would ended up black and other times brighter to end up to be white. We also wanted to give the watcher the impression that he would dive down into different worlds.

I liked doing the task but we had issues with the technology so we could not have a longer journey. The other issue we had was the camera because when we got too close to an object it did not focused well. In addition it was hard to think about the different settings because we did not have a long time to search for nice and beautiful places. Therefore we learned that time management is very important and that it is better to start than to overthink.
We could also have taken more photos in a row so that the transition would be smoother and more realistic.

British Values - Individual Liberty

The country Britain not only stands against terrorism and discrimination but also fights against those issues to protect society. The Prevent Strategy was set up in 2006 by the government to stop people supporting terrorism or becoming terrorists. The strategy is subdivided in three major aspects which are challenging the ideology that stands for terrorism, protecting innocent people and supporting those sectors which have a risk of radicalization. To prevent that young adults or even children turn into terrorists the government developed the Equality Act in 2010 which tackles inequality and prevents discrimination against people with 'protected characteristics' inside public schools. Examples for 'protected characteristics' are the age, disability, sex or sexual orientation, the religion, etcetera. In fact of that the British Values are defined as "democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance for those with differe...

Evaluation - Signs, Symbols & Semiotics

In the beginning my collective and I thought that the task to create a whole wayfinding system for North Greenwich in only one week is tough and really stressful. However, we started with the brief right away and managed to finish it before the deadline. On Monday we visited the North Greenwich Station and created a questionnaire to find more out about the already existing navigation signs. Referring to our trip it really helped us to get inspired for our final outcome. Furthermore it showed us that sometimes it is necessary to involve a wide range of people to create something that talks or response or even helps them. Working in my group was really fun and effective. Everybody focused on the brief and had different ideas on how to come up with a general system. I also think that it is important to learn working in groups because usually when you work as a designer you need to be able to cooperate and be a part of a group. I also enjoyed working with my two peers because I ...

Evaluation - Storytelling

During the project "Storytelling" I learned the techniques of wood carving and printmaking and how to digitalize those prints. Before I started designing I looked at some artists to get a quick understanding what printmaking actually means. Regarding to that  I could think of pictures which I could carve into wood blogs and that would express the books theme. Looking at my first prints I like the style of the tensing hands because they convey strength as well as tension and therefore they convey the detailed and well described characters that are a part of the book. This image combined with blood drops  also broaches the issue of brutality.  The other print that I developed shows a hand holding a head and a police tape covered  with  blood. This image relates to the strength and courage of the police man who wants to find the murder of a  shot man as well as the power of gangs in American Ghettos who are killing innocent people. I think I used the techni...
