Life Drawing

Life drawing is something I have never done before. At first I did not know what to expect but then after talking to some people I got excited to do this workshop.

I think it is good to learn how to draw people in real life and not only from photographs because it is more difficult.
In addition I learned not to use the brain but draw from what I see because otherwise the drawing is going to look different than the person.
I also had fun using the charcoal which I have not used before neither. At first it was difficult for me to sketch with it but after a while I figured out how to use it in the right way.
The different task ask us to draw movement, a special position, use shadow or not to look at the paper at all. We got different amounts of time so we either needed to sketch fast or concentrate on details.

After seeing my drawings I thought that I could have done better. Usually I am a good sketcher but I found out that it is way harder to draw a person and their proportions in real live when they are not close to you. I also had trouble not to use my brain.
In conclusion I had fun and I got excited to practice life drawing again.

British Values - Individual Liberty

The country Britain not only stands against terrorism and discrimination but also fights against those issues to protect society. The Prevent Strategy was set up in 2006 by the government to stop people supporting terrorism or becoming terrorists. The strategy is subdivided in three major aspects which are challenging the ideology that stands for terrorism, protecting innocent people and supporting those sectors which have a risk of radicalization. To prevent that young adults or even children turn into terrorists the government developed the Equality Act in 2010 which tackles inequality and prevents discrimination against people with 'protected characteristics' inside public schools. Examples for 'protected characteristics' are the age, disability, sex or sexual orientation, the religion, etcetera. In fact of that the British Values are defined as "democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance for those with differe...

Evaluation - Storytelling

During the project "Storytelling" I learned the techniques of wood carving and printmaking and how to digitalize those prints. Before I started designing I looked at some artists to get a quick understanding what printmaking actually means. Regarding to that  I could think of pictures which I could carve into wood blogs and that would express the books theme. Looking at my first prints I like the style of the tensing hands because they convey strength as well as tension and therefore they convey the detailed and well described characters that are a part of the book. This image combined with blood drops  also broaches the issue of brutality.  The other print that I developed shows a hand holding a head and a police tape covered  with  blood. This image relates to the strength and courage of the police man who wants to find the murder of a  shot man as well as the power of gangs in American Ghettos who are killing innocent people. I think I used the techni...
